American Society of Safety Engineers-Great Plains Chapter presents:

Development of an Application to Assist End-Users in Specifying Protective Glove Characteristics
ASSE-GP-Feb-2016.pdf

Presented by: Doris A. Burns, MPH, CSP, EurOSHM, Manager, Safety Engineering, Union Pacific Railroad

How do you decide what protective gloves to use? Just tell your sales person what issues you’re having and let them decide? Have a salesperson come and tell you the latest, greatest glove they now have on the market? Shouldn’t it be more objective than that? Doris Burns has been studying the plethora of European and American Standards related to hand protection and glove selection (41 criteria in all). Now, she is developing an app that allows the end-user to specify glove needs based on a hazard assessment. Complete the assessment, and print (or email) the exact specifications to your glove provider. No more guesswork, no more trial & error (and injuries). Doris will demonstrate the Excel version of this app now in development. Sign up to be a Beta Tester!
